Living abroad

Who is living abroad? It took me 10 years living in a new country to understand that I am at home. No, I don’t mean that growing up in Florida, studying in New York, and moving to Germany makes me a foreigner and now I feel good here. It is simple. Home is wherever I am. It could be more difficult in places such as the middle east or central Africa, but everywhere is already adapted and the people are just as connected as in other places. Is it clear? It doesn’t always seem the case because of cultural and climate differences. I think of myself like solar energy. The daily sunshine isn’t necessary any more because it is so strongly shining inside. However, doses of it from time to time are necessary for a recharge. Other languages only expand you mother tongue. New traditions are fun and reminders to perform your old ones if they are important to you.
