Yoga

With regular Yoga practice, we become more aware of our body and breath control. As musicians, it is unavoidable to hold our instruments for long periods of time in sometimes strenuous positions. Yoga enables us to realize when extra unwanted tension is present so that we can let go or release. How can we listen to what our body is telling us if we aren’t in touch with it? Starting the day with a few rounds of sun salutations with a metronome clicking for regular, precise breathing makes for a wonderful start to the day. Also, with the large amount of oxygen going into the blood, it is much more efficient in waking us up than caffein.
